FAQ About Express Entry
What is an Express Entry Profile?
Potential candidates make an expression of interest (EOI) in coming to Canada by creating an Express Entry profile and providing information about their skills, work experience, language ability, education, and other personal information. This profile is self-declared; that is to say that the material provided by the potential candidate is based on his or her own assessment of his or her personal information.
What is an Express Entry Pool?
Potential candidates who create an Express Entry profile and are eligible for one of Canada’s economic immigration programs enter the Express Entry pool. These programs are the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class, the Canadian Experience Class, and a portion of the Provincial Nominee Programs. From this pool, the federal government and provincial governments, as well as Canadian employers, are able to select candidates. Candidates who are selected then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ (ITA) for immigration to Canada under one of the programs.
What is the Comprehensive Ranking System?
The Comprehensive Ranking System is the government of Canada’s internal mechanism for ranking candidates based on their human capital, determined by factors such as age, level of education and language ability. This helps to enable Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC, formerly known as CIC) to decide which candidates may be issued invitations to apply for permanent residence.

The province of Quebec operates its own Quebec immigration programs separate from all other provinces. As a Quebec based company, we have a team dedicated to servicing Quebec Immigration clients.
To settle permanently in Quebec must undergo a two-step immigration process:
You must be selected by the Ministère de l’immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Inclusion (MIFI) – Quebec’s immigration authority. If selected, you shall receive a Quebec Certificate of Selection (CSQ).
An approved CSQ holder must file a permanent residence application with IRCC within 24 months from the date the CSQ was issued.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)
Canada’s provincial nominee programs (PNPs) offer a pathway to Canadian permanent residence for individuals who are interested in immigrating to a specific Canadian province or territory.
Each Canadian province and territory operates its own PNP designed to meet its specific economic and demographic needs.
How to apply for a Provincial Nominee Program in Canada?
- Find the PNP that is right for you. Our consultants can be of great help here.
- Apply to your chosen PNP. Submit an application directly to your chosen province or territory.
- Obtain a Provincial Nomination certificate. If your application is successful, the province or territory will nominate you to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
- Submit your application for permanent residence: Apply to the Canadian federal government for permanent residence. If your chosen PNP is aligned with Express Entry, you can do this online. If not, you must submit a paper-based application.

A study permit is a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) which allows you to study and stay in Canada temporarily.
Who Needs A Study Permit?
You must have a study permit if your courses or program of studies is longer than 6 months.
Who does not need a study permit? You do not need a study permit if your program or course:
- will be 6 months or shorter, and
- will end before your initial immigration status expires/ends (such as work permit, visitor record, stamp in passport, etc).
It is also important to mention that some students are study permit exempt.
Also depending on your country of citizenship, you might need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to travel to Canada.
Whatever the case, our consultants are here to guide you through. But here are some tips:
You might want to apply for a study permit (even if this is not required) if:
- you will study full time and would like to work on campus;
- you will study full time as an exchange student and would like to work on and/or off campus; OR
- you might extend your studies after your original course/program ends.

I commend the trainer's professionalism. She was able to get to the heart of the problem and lead the team towards new perspectives. A great experience that we'll be repeating next year.
PSK Cameroun enabled us to acquire new skills in business development techniques through this training on the theme: "Sales forecasting and business development". It was a very enriching experience for our marketing department. It would be a good idea to propose other training themes in the future. We would like to propose them to our top management for their appreciation.
